Today, I went back to work after two days of holiday. Weather today is quite hot at 33 degrees celcius. I travelled to somewhere in East Coast of Singapore to meet my client for a business meeting. After the meeting which took up to 2 hours, I went home to finish up my work. I received a letter from AIA an insurance company mentioned that my insurance I applied months ago has been approved. I was so worried that I could not get coverage for my insurance. Now, it seems that my premium is quite expensive at SGD$150 a month. Anyway, part of life you pay more you get more.

Second day of CNY is a very wet day in Singapore. I slept almost the whole day. Woke up at 2.30pm. I can't sleep the whole of last night after returning from my father in law house. Perhaps becuase I was so excited and very tired of the CNY event. Anyway I watched TV instead until 4.45am. I forgot to tell you what i bought at Causeway Point three days ago. Well I bought a Sergio Tacchini polo tee shirt. Well I like the brand because I play tennis (play tennis since at the age of 7yrs old) and it is a well known brand for its expensive price. I wore the tee shirt during the 1st day of CNY.

Today is Chinese New Year (CNY). I visited my father-in law house. We gave him 'Ang Pow' and wished him HAPPY NEW YEAR. As a person of Malay origin I find it interesting to understand the tradions of CNYin Singapore. First of all during the CNY festive season, I noticed that Chinese like wearing red, according to my wife red symbolises prosperity and luck. Even numbers is the 'in' thing, we exchange oranges that must be given in even numbers. ODD is out. I gave my father in law 2 oranges. Even the 'Ang Pow' I gave him is in even number. I can't tell you how much I gave or else you will look for me for the 'Ang Pows'.

Anyway, I forgot to write about the reunion dinner we had at father's house in the evening eve of CNY. We had a SPICY dinner something different from the norm. Thanks to the food I bought at Hjh Maimunah Restaurant. The food was delicious and everyone perspired. We also had 'steam boat' where we short boil seafood in the middle of table. The event lasted for an hour and everyone was full in the stomach.

Sunday, February 10

This afternoon at 3pm I went to Causeway Point shopping centre in Woodlands with my wife. We took the MRT from Ang Mo Kio station to Woodlands MRT station a 20 minutes ride. When we arrived at Causeway Point shopping centre we saw a lot of people busy doing their last minute Chinese New Year shopping. We decided to have some lunch as we had not eaten since breakfast. So we decided to eat at Burger King. My wife chose to eat at Burger King because BK is having the Chinese New Year promotion. I had the Mushroom Swiss Meal which tasted good but the portion is a bit smaller compared to the non promotional ones. Well, it's a promotional burger, so I don't expect much from it as long my tummy is full for the next 2 hours of retail theraphy i.e. shopping

Saturday, February 9

The price of some grocery items in some Singapore supermarket increased by up to 100% during the Chinese New Year festival season. Price of a Pomfret fish increased from SGD$18 3 days ago to SGD$31 per kilogramme today. I was quite surprise in the increase of price. However, I understand that the demand for pomfret fish surpassed the supply side of it as Chinese love steamed pomfret fish for their annual reunion dinner. Furthermore,I noticed that the consumers prefer to buy these fishes just a day before the Chinese Lunar New Year reunion dinner because they were more concern on the freshness of the fishes. One consumer I met at Shin Sheong Supermarket in Ang Mo Kio said,"I like the fish to be fresh for the reunion dinner tomorrow that is why I buy it only by today"
Happy Chinese New Year
This is my 1st time time blogging.
